Position:  Chief Building Inspector

Department:  Planning & Zoning

Grade:  23

Salary Range/Hourly Rate: $54,686.67-$61,000.00

This position is responsible for performing all County and City inspections and enforcement in connection with codes and ordinances such as:  National Electric Code, Standard Building Code, Standard Plumbing Code, Standard Mechanical Code, Standard Gas Code, Standard Housing Code, Standard Fire Prevention Code, State Entergy Code, Swimming Pool Code, State Industrialized Building, State Manufactured Housing Setup, and ordinances as may now or in the future be adopted.

Minimum Job Requirements:  high school graduate or equivalent; vocational/technical training in building code enforcement or residential and commercial inspections is preferred; three (3) years’ experience in residential and/or commercial construction or inspections is preferred; if not already certified, minimum certification (CABO) must be obtained within a two year period from date of employment.
