Intern – Process Improvement Specialist
Description: McDuffie County is searching for a candidate to completed a 200-hour paid internship this summer to analyze various procedures, policies and processes related to customer-facing services provided through the local government, research community needs, and other duties. From removing confusing language from ordinances to creating an on-line repository of information and digital forms, the Process Improvement Specialist would serve as an unbiased third-party focused on making government interaction simpler and more beneficial for residents, the business community and other stakeholders.
Specific duties include, but are not related to:
- Community strengths and needs analysis
- Develop and initiate a plan to establish a “one-stop shop” website for Thomson-McDuffie County services
- Evaluate current guidelines associated with development, zoning, aesthetics, etc., in the historic district
- Cooperative development of websites for government departments as assigned.
Successful fulfillment of this role will require knowledge of computers, website development and content preparation, as well as skills in the following areas:
- Collection and interpretation of data
- Understanding and interpretation of language included in community ordinances
- Researching, vetting and recommending products/services
In addition, a strong interest in local government operation and related services is preferred.
Minimum qualifications include: Pursuit of a degree in planning, business administration, public administration, engineering, or related field; and a valid driver’s license. The schedule for this position will be flexible based on selected applicant’s availability. The internship must be completed between May 1, 2023 and Sept. 1, 2023.
